1st Athens Civil Society Festival

Συν Αθηνά και χείρα κίνει (sin athina kai chira kini) – This is an ancient greek proverb that refers to goddess Athina and means: Don’t expect everything from God, you have to act and he (or she) will aid.

From this proverb comes the name of “Synathina”, an initiative of the Municipality of Athens, that supports and promotes the work of NGOs based or operating in Athens.

Like in a Tangram game, more than 200 NGOs came together at the first Athens Civil Society Festival, to share ideas and knowledge, purpose and people, through art, discussions, sports, music. With the support of Synathina and Municipality of Athens.
